Powrmatic warehouse heating replacement

Open full case study

The project

An inefficient older warm-air heater was replaced with a Powrmatic LX140F at Unit 16. Oxyplumb specified and delivered the replacement, removing the old heater and flue and installing a new Uni-Strut support frame.

The work included gas and electrical alterations, a new heater and flue through a new opening, a programmer and room thermostat. The redundant fresh-air intake was closed with weatherproof cement board.

Delivery and handover

The warehouse remained operational apart from two bays while the installation was carried out. Leigh reported that the client was delighted with the completed work.

108mm stainless steel rooftop gas-main replacement

Open full case study

The project

Working with principal contractor Stoic Roofing, Oxyplumb replaced the existing low-carbon steel gas main while classroom roofs were raised by approximately 100mm to improve insulation.

The old gas main was replaced with a new 108mm stainless steel main, installed on rubber feet to protect the felt roof.

Delivery and handover

The summer-holiday programme was coordinated with Stoic Roofing, with no school downtime and heating and hot water ready before pupils returned.

The plant-room work

Oxyplumb’s photographs at Prebendal Nursing Home show replacement circulation pumps fitted into the existing plant-room pipework.

Pressure control

A separate job record specifies a replacement Mikrofill 3 pressurisation unit. The gallery includes the installed controller alongside the pump work, without presenting separate visits as one installation.

The project

A boiler upgrade at Carterton Community Hall, replacing the existing heat source while retaining the building’s established heating controls.

The new installation

The job specification includes a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48kW commercial boiler, a plate heat exchanger, a magnetic filter and a new Grundfos circulating pump, with altered and insulated connecting pipework.

Keeping the existing system

The arrangement separates the new boiler from the existing heating circuit and reuses the current controls and motorised valves.

Our work

The existing system

The museum’s heating was served by two older Vaillant boilers.

The replacement

The replacement scope comprises two Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000+ 35kW system boilers, a new low-loss header and individual system filters. High-level flues follow the existing route, with an access hatch for future servicing.

Working with the existing building

The design retains the existing system controls, motorised valves and downstream pumps, connecting new boiler plant to the museum’s established heating system.

The existing plant

The school’s plant room housed Broag Remeha L200 boilers dating from 1998.

The replacement

The replacement specification called for two Firebird Envirogreen commercial oil boilers, a 200kW plate heat exchanger to separate the boiler circuit from the existing heating system, and a 300-litre indirect hot-water cylinder.

Designed around the school

The scope also included variable-speed circulation pumps, insulated and labelled pipework, and integration with the school’s existing building-management controls. The photographs show the old plant, strip-out, replacement boilers and cylinder, pumps and insulated services.

Commercial boiler replacement

The existing system

The existing heating system at LTI Metaltech, Milton Park, Abingdon, used two floor-standing commercial boilers.

The replacement

We replaced the old boiler system with two Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 64kW commercial boilers on a cascade frame, with a shared flue through the existing external-wall opening.

The new installation included a plate heat exchanger to separate the boilers from the existing heating circuit, individual magnetic filters and new connecting pipework. The system connects to the existing heating pipework and controls, retaining the building’s existing zones.

One-day Lochinvar hot-water heater replacement

Open full case study

The project

A split water heater was replaced like-for-like with a Lochinvar LGC285-560, converted for LPG. Oxyplumb completed the work in one day during the school holidays, ahead of the new term.

Existing pipework and the flue were reused following an integrity test. A faulty hot-water return pump was also identified and replaced, avoiding a long cold-water draw before hot water reached the outlets.
