The project

Replacing an unreliable boiler

Carterton Town Hall’s Worcester Bosch CDi Classic boiler had become unreliable and was repeatedly breaking down. Following a survey of the Alvescot Road premises, the Oxyplumb Commercial team specified a Vaillant ecoTEC plus 48 kW boiler for the replacement.

The manufacturer-backed guarantee was extended from five to ten years, giving the Town Hall longer-term cover for the new boiler.

Protecting the new boiler from the older system

The heating system was fully drained and flushed before the installation began. A plate heat exchanger provides hydraulic separation between the new boiler and the established building circuit, helping protect the replacement equipment while allowing the existing controls to remain in use.

Copper Mapress pipework and fittings used for the required alterations.
Expansion vessel installed on the boiler side of the plate heat exchanger.
Filtration installed on both sides of the plate heat exchanger.
New Grundfos UPS4 circulation pump fitted.
New horizontal flue installed for the Vaillant boiler.
Existing heating controls retained and integrated into the completed arrangement.

Commissioning and handover

The system was filled, tested and fully commissioned. Every radiator circuit was checked before the Oxyplumb Commercial team completed the handover with the client.

The failed boiler and all installation waste were removed from site and disposed of responsibly.
